Old World Estate

An authentic Italian castle nestled among the vineyards of Yountville.

After years of traveling extensively throughout Italy, our clients dreamed of building an estate to properly feature their impressive collection of antiques. Our challenge was to create something that looked as if it had been plucked straight out of the Renaissance Era. We achieved an authentic look by collaborating with a cadre of local artisans, incorporating reclaimed materials and using Old World craftsmanship techniques to make our client’s vision of an Italianate-style castle a reality.

Boasting vaulted ceilings, hand-painted murals and antique tile flooring from Germany, the lower-level of the estate was mostly constructed of reclaimed Austrian brick and stone. A graceful French limestone escalier a vis style staircase takes visitors up 88 steps and around seven carefully varied spirals to the top of a 65-foot turreted stone tower, culminating in a lookout with sweeping views of the grounds.
